Interactive Workshops Announced For Country Radio Seminar 50th Anniversary Event
Country Radio Seminar has revealed details surrounding three workshops that will take place at Country Radio Seminar’s 50th Anniversary event (CRS 2019). The interactive workshops will feature experts speaking on Music Scheduling, Voice & Talent Coaching, and Production. The specialists will provide step-by-step, how-to lectures and participants will leave with resources in-hand and ready to apply their new skills.
Held in the Cumberland Rooms at Omni Nashville, the workshops will take place at the same times each day, simultaneously from 9-9:50 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 14 and Friday, Feb. 15.
Two interactive Music Scheduling workshops are on the agenda and will feature the MusicMaster and RCS/GSelector platforms.
MusicMaster’s Music Scheduling workshop, held in Cumberland Room 1, will host trainers and master-users offering hands-on solutions to three commonly encountered music-scheduling challenges. First, attendees will face a bloated rule tree and learn how to "trim it" back to health using rule groups. Next, they will work on planning for holidays and specialty programming using the Format Scheduler. Finally, they will run a series of diagnostic reports on a finished log to find and fix any potential issues that may be affecting their scheduling results. Participants will leave the workshop with new music scheduling skills, resources and a cohort of music scheduling contacts. MusicMaster’s experts, Jerry Butler (VP of Sales and Music Scheduling Consultant) and Joe Knapp (Founder and President) will present both days for MusicMaster. “Master-users,” Brook Stephens (MD/KZPK, St. Cloud, MN, Leighton Broadcasting), Chris Huff (MD/APD KILT, Houston, Entercom), and Stacey Cato (Music Strategy Manager at CMT, Nashville, TN), will be on-site providing one-on-one assistance to workshop attendees. MusicMaster Workshop participants are required to sign-up in advance here.
Held in Cumberland Room 2, RCS/GSelector’s Music Scheduling workshop will cover step-by-step solutions to music scheduling challenges. RCS/GSelector trainers and master-users will guide attendees in a two-part workshop to kick-start participants’ GSelector certification. Experts and RCS employees Drew Bennett and Nate Mumford will present both days for RCS/GSelector. “Master-users” B-Dub(MD/APD KWBL, Denver, CO, iHeart Media) and Jay Cruze (Dir. of Country Programming, KY and IN, iHeart Media) will be on-site providing one-on-one assistance to workshop attendees. Each participant will be provided with a laptop computer to use during the workshop and will work step-by-step through each session. RCS/GSelector Workshop participants are required to sign-up in advance here.
Held in Cumberland Rooms 3 and 4, Interactive Workshop #2: Brand and Production, which will be sponsored by Benztown for the Thursday session, will feature branding experts Kelly Dougherty, Steve Taylor, and Ron Tarrent advising on the critical steps to building a better brand. These three professionals will break down how to cut through and be noticed, how to make an idea stick, and how to avoid major pitfalls. Join Kelly Doherty (KellyKellyKelly), one of the most successful radio Voices, and Imagers; from KISS FM LA and VP of Imaging at iHeartMedia, and now Founder of TheImagingHouse.com; Steve Taylor, award-winning Production Director (U.S. Stations, Hot Springs, AR) and Voice of major market radio and network; and Ron Tarrent, former head of Imaging and Sound Design for the Howard Stern Show, Creative Director for Kiss 92.5 Toronto, National Imaging Producer for Roger’s Media, and Director/RED Hits for ReelWorld Seattle for this special workshop where constituents can hear from three of some of the best minds talking branding and production for stations, shows, events, and commercial clients from entirely different ends of the spectrum.
Held in Cumberland Rooms 5 and 6, Interactive Workshop #3: Voice & Talent Coaching, which will be sponsored by Benztown for the Friday session, will feature expert Marice Tobias, "The Voice Whisperer," and will show you how to captivate your audience. Tobias will demonstrate the difference between a voice in the background, and a voice that’s heard, and a voice that captivates. Tobias is currently looking for volunteers who might be interested in getting involved. Interested parties can email their sample reads to tobiasent@tobiasent.com.
