The Matrix of the Metrics, How to Make Sense of All this Data

Charts, call out research, online research, sales info, streams, Shazams - with all the data out there, how do we interpret it? What stats are really useful in helping us determine what to play? This panel will have three experts explain the metrics of data, how to access it, and how it helps them identify characteristics of a hit song to help build a strong current to recurrent to gold list. 

Benefits:

  • Report on the second annual PD/MD Music Decision Survey, which examines which factors have the most and least influence on decisions regarding new adds and increased spins.
  • Identify which Country reporting stations have “golden ears” – a combination of being early on singles that become No. 1 hits nationally, as well as being the most selective–information that has never been reported before. 

  • Provide updated correlations between various levels of streaming activity, Pandora rankings and Shazam tagging and the national outcomes on more than two years of charted Country singles.
