coyote calhoun - Inducted 2005

Coyote Calhoun started his radio career in 1969 at Country station KRBB in Sallisaw, Oklahoma and later that year joined KBIT is Muskogee. He then worked at rock and pop stations until joining WAMZ in Louisville, Kentucky, in 1980. He has already received dozens of national awards, including The Academy of Country Music Air Personality of the Year 1984, Country Music Association Air Personality of the Year 1986, Billboard Magazine Program Director of the Year 1987, 1989, 1990, 1992, 1993, 1994, 2000; Billboard Magazine Music Director of the Year 1987, 1990, 1994; Billboard Magazine Air personality of the Year 1987, 1989, 1990, 1991, 1992, 1993, 1994; Gavin Program Director of the Year 1999, 2000, 2001, 2002; Gavin Air Personality of the Year 1986; National association of Broadcasters Marconi Award for Air Personality of the Year 1994, 1996; Radio and Record Program Director of the Year 2000, 2003. At the time of his induction, Coyote continued to entertain Louisville listeners each weekday from 2:00­-6:00 pm on WAMZ. Coyote Calhoun was inducted into the Country Music D J Hall of Fame in 2005.
